Another Visit to the ER

We got our first call from the daycare on Friday afternoon requesting that we come and pick Dayton up. He had a 102.6 fever. Of course, we called Bepop (the Grandpa Pediatrician) to get his advice. We also called our local pediatrician's office and they suggested we just treat with motrin/tylenol and see how he is doing in the morning. All was pretty standard with fevers no higher than 103 or so until Sunday around 1 AM where it spiked to 106.8. This was taken with a temporal thermometer so it may not have been exact but regardless, it was really high. I woke Mike and we gave Dayton some more motrin. I told Mike he did not even want to know what the thermometer had read. It was back down to 102 and change an hour or so later. The next morning, we called Bebop to report the night's events and he stressed Dayton needed to be seen today. Of course, it was a Sunday so after a call to our local pediatrician, off we went to Texas Children's hospital. Luckily, they got us right in. Chest x-rays, catheter for pee pee test, IV for blood and ultimately IV antibiotics and they sent us home about 6 hours later. Still unsure of what exactly was causing his high fever. It was 103.4 when we left the hospital. Luckily, the IV antibiotics did their trick for 24 hours. When they wore off yesterday afternoon, his fever was back. Off to the doctor... Another shot of antibiotics and now he's on amoxicillan. He had a 102 fever this AM (Tuesday). Fingers crossed and he'll now be now be fever free and on the mend. Mike has also been sick but is feeling a bit better today. I'm tired. Our poor little boy....

All but the first picture below were all taken at the hospital. The doctors and nurses at Texas Childrens were wonderful. Check out the IV in Dayton's hand. The first picture was taken yesterday morning after the trauma of the day before. Little Dayton is just not feeling well. We can't wait to have our healthy and happy boy back ASAP!
