Visit to the Pediatrician

We had an eventful day yesterday. Dayton had his first visit with his Pediatrician, Dr. Kavin. It was a bit traumatic for Mom, Dad and Dayton but overall, Dayton was a real trooper. He even had to have blood drawn for a standard test and while he was not happy about it, he calmed down immediately afterwards. Everyone was pretty tired after the 3 hour event.

The wonderful news is that Dayton is gaining weight amazingly well. All I can say is that I'm proud of my 'little sucker'. When he left the hospital, he weighed 7 lb 1 oz and 48 hours later at the doctor's office yesterday weighed in at 7 lb 9 oz. As of yesterday, his weight is the 40% and length is 70%. We got the green light to move up to feeding in the evenings every 4 hours rather then 3. Yeah! More sleep for Mom! Dayton is doing wonderfully at night, by the way, consistently sleeping between feedings. Love him!

The weather outside was actually tolerable last night. Dayton hung outside with Mom and Dad for the first time and we snapped these shots.
Here are a few pictures from yesterday.

Dayton's been home for nearly 2 Days

We are feeling even more thankful and lucky now as we approach our two-day mark of being home with Dayton. He has been absolutely incredible. We are all feeling great. Dayton even seems to have his days and nights straight (Jill knocks on wood)! We can't wait to find out his weight today at his first pediatrician appointment. He definitely seems to be filling out more.

Jill's Mom arrived yesterday to meet her grandson. She's been a big hit with Dayton. Mike and I took our first run outside the household this morning to go to Target and left Dayton home with his Grandma. We came home to find him happily propped up on this boppy with entertaining toys laid around him. He is now fast asleep in that very position.

As always, we would not want to post with without some new pictures. Enjoy!

Quote of the Day

During some Daddy/Son time, Mike laid Dayton on his bare chest. After 5 minutes, he said to Jill with a smirk of pain..."He clearly has a solid grip on my underarm hair".

Unfortunately, this made Jill laugh so hard she could not walk to Mike to help him out of this 'hairy' situation as quickly as Mike would have preferred.

Dayton William Dix's Homecoming

We had a wonderful return home on July 5th around 2 PM. The Hirschenfang-Dix four-legged tribe welcomed their new brother to the household with calm and curious warmth. Piper in particular seems to have 'adopted' little Dayton.

We spent the afternoon adjusting to our new life in old familiar surroundings. Thanks to Amanda for coming by to check on us and give us diapering and breastfeeding tips. Thanks to Ashley and Josh for groceries and dinner!

Our first night home was not insane, due to a wonderful night-nurse named Christi. Dayton is proving to be a hungry boy, which is to be expected. Our first appointment with the pediatrician is tomorrow. Jill's Mom arrives today to meet her first grandson.

Enjoy the video of Dayton's arrival home yesterday.

He's Here!

On July 3rd, Dayton William Dix was welcomed into the world. He arrived at 3:29 AM at 7 lb 13 oz and 20 1/2 inches long.

Mike and I are so thankful to have had a wonderful team to help with Dayton's arrival. Amanda Moore, our friend and doula taught us so much leading up to the labor and we could not have had such an incredible experience without her (http://www.holisticexpectations.com/) Thank you ENDLESSLY, Amanda.

We were INCREDIBLY lucky to have had Nancy be our Labor and Delivery nurse at Memorial Hermann hospital in Katy. She was very supportive of our birth plan and wishes and guided us throughout the experience to a very successful end.

Mom, Dad and Dayton will be going home from the hospital on Sunday early afternoon. We look forward to rejoining the rest of our clan (Mikki, Piper, Tiger) with our new wonderful two-legged addition, Dayton.

Thank you all for your support and love during this amazing time.

No BBD news....

For those of you that check the blog regularly, I feel obligated to update you that there is no news.....BBD is still residing comfortably in-utero.

Mike and I guessed last night that he would arrive on Friday, July 3rd. It was purely a guess.
