BBD - Not a June Baby?!

We always thought that BBD would be a June baby. Today is his last shot to join the June birthday crew of me (June 7th), my brother (June 28th), Grandpa Bill (June 15th), Grandpa Hershey (June 19th), among others. Perhaps he is more inclined to come into the world with a BANG on July 4th?! We did schedule an induction on July 9th (which is cousin Carter Braun's birthday - - Mike's great nephew)...but I'm fully confident that BBD will arrive before then. I would really prefer not to be induced.

Our next doctor's appointment is on Thursday so if BBD does not make his utero-exit before then we'll see how things are progressing. We're scheduled for an ultrasound so they can check the amniotic fluid levels and cord flow. If all is well, they will allow me to go until July 9th.

Please oh please, let a healthy BBD arrive before then!

No Baby Yet

It seems Mike and I are not the only ones that are anxious about BBD's arrival. We are receiving endless phone calls and emails from family and friends to check-in with us. It made me realize that I really do need to update this BLOG frequently, especially at this time, as many of you are checking on it regularly to see if there is an arrival announcement. Well, no updates right now. Sit tight...the time will come...or at least, that is what I keep telling myself. In the mean time, we're enjoying the 'quiet before the storm'.

Thanks to Mary Ann and Arianna for creating a labor 'IPOD' music mix for me called 'Breath and Push'. I'm sure it will come in very handy!

Tired...not up for labor today

Our neighbors across the street who recently moved in had a 'housewarming' party last night. I now realize it was more in the tone of a 'frat party'. My patience began to run out around 2 AM as they sang 'Margaritaville' among other songs at the top of their lungs as they played beer pong on their front lawn. Needless to say, I finally fell asleep around 3 AM.

I'm just not up for labor today....maybe tomorrow. Let's see if 'little Rufus' (as Mike has called this in-utero baby since the first ultrasound) agrees. He seems to be putting up a bit more of a fuss the past 24 hours and may be trying to swim downstream.

Here are some more wonderful pictures from our friend Shaniece taken last night. It's the end of day of our due date and BBD has shown no signs of arriving - - - we will see what the weekend has in store.

Today is BBD's Due Date - June 26th, 2009

It is June 26th, 2009. BBD's due date...his lease has run out but he's not showing any signs of vacating the premises. I'm calling in for back-up to enforce our lease agreement.

On a serious note, today is also the anniversary of Mike's father's passing 18 years ago. We were hoping BBD would arrive today as a tribute to the 'circle of life'. Apparently, BBD has other ideas...or could quickly change his mind with a speedy labor and we'd still meet the date. There is still time!

We still have many upcoming significant birthdays to target. My brother, Alex's, and good friend Ashley's on June 28th; Mike's best friend Vince's on June 29th.

Our first blog entry!

It's 4 days away until Baby-Boy-Dix's (BBD) due date, June 26th. Thankfully, I finished up work last week and now have time to get the last bit of rest as it will likely be about 18 years until the next opportunity to do so. This also gives me time to create the coveted blog. Many of you have been requesting this service with the pending addition to our family.

With Mike's family in Florida, my family in New York/New Jersey, and friends scattered across the globe...this will likely be the best way to keep everyone appaised of our status. Let's just hope that I find the time to keep this as up-to-date as possible!

Here is a picture of the pre-BBD Dix-Hirschenfang family. 35 weeks pregnant and down in Galveston for Memorial Day weekend. Mikki, Piper, Jill (+BBD in belly) and Mike. We had a great time with our good friends and neighbors and their pups. 6 people and 6 dogs in a rented beach house - - - can't ask for anything more!
